Sweet 16 Presents for YOU!

Screen Shot 2013-02-25 at 10.49.31 AM

Yesterday was our 16th birthday.

And we want to give YOU prizes!

Intrigued?  Watch our 54-second explanation of the contest

(complete with catchy birthday music!):
And don't forget, you can enjoy the cake shake through the end of March.
Fine print, terms & conditions: When you spend $10 & scan your registered Boloco card, you'll receive an email with your link to the entry form (Our technology works over night, so you'll have it when you wake up). You must spend over $10, before tax, in a single transaction and scan your registered Boloco card. For every $10 you spend, you get an additional entry into the Sweet 16 contest. For example, if you spend $11.25 in one visit, you'll receive one entry. If you spend $22 in one visit, you'll receive two entries. If you spend $8 for lunch, and $8 for dinner, you will not get an entry. The entries are generated automatically, so you must use your card at the time of the transaction & we won't be able to offer additional entries if you email us (but did you know? Your cashier can look up your information with your phone number at the time of purchase!) Individual transactions for less than $10 will not sum to additional entries. All entries must be received by midnight on March 12, 2013. Catering orders over $130 will get 2 entries into the contest. Winners will be selected and announced on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Have fun & good luck! Why do you have to spend $10 AND tell us words of wisdom in order to win? Well, we were avoiding a violation of the lottery law. Instead, we're holding what the Deceptive Mail Prevention and Enforcement Act of 1999 calls a "skill contest." According to A "skill contest" is a puzzle, game, competition, or other contest in which: * A prize is awarded or offered; [Boloco: yes, some amazing prizes! Including a trip across the world!] * The outcome depends on the contestant's skill, [Boloco: we will be selecting the 16 best "words of wisdom" shared with us, so this definitely requires skill & won't be left to chance] * A purchase, payment or donation is, or seems to be, required, to enter the contest. [Boloco: you'll receive an entry for every $10 you spend in a single transaction - and for every additional $10 you spend, you'll get another entry. Just remember, spending isn't cumulative - so you have to spend the full $10 in one visit to get an entry.] Super Detailed Terms & Conditions: Contest ends on March 12, 2013 at 11:59pm. Approximate retail value of all prizes is $10,125. Actual value may vary based on airfare fluctuations and distance between departure and destination. Winner will not receive the difference between actual and approximate retail value. Winners of the two trips must travel on or before 12/31/2013 or prize will be forfeited. Trip must be booked at least sixty (60) days prior to departure and the winner and guest must travel together on the same itinerary. Trip is subject to availability and blackout dates. Travel must be roundtrip. Once issued, tickets are non-transferable and may not be reissued once travel has commenced. Open tickets may not be issued and stopovers are not permitted. No refund or compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of any flight. Travel and accommodations are subject to availability. Travel is subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this Contest, and those set forth by JetBlue as detailed in the passenger ticket contract. Airline tickets are void if sold for cash or other consideration. The winner and guest must have valid travel documents (i.e., valid government issued photo identification and/or passport) prior to departure. All expenses and incidental travel costs not expressly stated in the package description above, including but not limited to, ground transportation, meals and drinks, incidentals, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, airport fees, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes or other expenses are the responsibility solely of winner. Travel restrictions, conditions and limitations may apply. Boloco will not replace any lost, mutilated, or stolen tickets, travel vouchers, or certificates. Winners are responsible for all applicable taxes on the prizes. Winners will be announced by March 20, 2013 at 11:59pm, and will be notified directly via email. Winning entries will be posted on Final decision as to the best words of wisdom will be determined by Boloco's Marketing Team. Decision of the judges is final. If prize is unclaimed within thirty (30) days or the prize will be forfeited. Boloco disclaims all liability for any claim arising from a winner's use or dissatisfaction with a prize, and disclaim any express or implied warranties. As condition of being awarded a prize, the winner and his or her guest for the two trips will be required to execute and deliver to Boloco within three (3) business days of notification a signed affidavit of eligibility and acceptance of the Contest Rules and release of liability and a copy of the winner's and his or her guest's government issued photo identification and/or passport for travel booking and tax purposes.

OK, the pre-party promotion didn’t work out for me. You essentially baited and switched me.

    Location; Harvard Square.
I bought $16 last Thursday night, came back on Sunday to get free burritos, but was charged for the 2 burritos I bought on Sunday.

    a) Thursday night the guys behind counter did not seem to fully understand and maybe not have been aware of promotion. They said so long as I had receipt on Sunday, they would honor.
    b) Sunday. First of all, after informing people behind counter that I was picking up free burritos, lady behind counter said that it was not the 24th, but that Monday was the 24th – appeared she was trying to pull a fast one on me, but how can you deny that Sunday was the 24th day of the month – strange behavior on her part. So after she was corrected regarding the day of the month, I proceeded to order burritos. Card was swiped. Went home, checked my receipts – I was charged for my burritos. Called Harvard Square store, was told that $16 would be loaded on my card by Monday 8am. WAS NOT. Again appears to be another fast one being pulled on me by Harvard Square staff.

I am sure there must be some kind of misunderstanding go on here.

    Here’s that pre-party promo again:
The pre-party for our 16th B-Day should be this simple

    Spend $16 * Swipe * Score $16

And it is, as long as you don’t read the fine print!

Fine Print: No, we don’t expect many people to take advantage of this… consider it kind of an experiment, with only our most loyal guests, before we actually celebrate our 16th birthday starting Sunday 2/24. After all, we’re asking you to spend at least $16 in hard-earned cash for crying out loud… but if you do it, you will get $16 loaded on your boloco card. And because of this, rules must apply:
    1) you must spend $16 (or more) in one visit between Tuesday 2/19 – Sunday 2/24.
    2) you must swipe your registered boloco card (or make sure it is attached to your online account or app)
    3) you must return to boloco to spend your $16 gift before end of day Sunday 2/24 (our birthday!). It will disappear forever if not used by closing time on Sunday 2/24. While we expect automatic loading upon spending $16, in the event technology fails us (as has happened before) all $16 gifts will be loaded no later than 8am the following day.

Grab a friend (or two!) and hurry in by Sunday night…twice!

Hi John – oh no! This sounds like a mess! We didn’t mean for our promotion to cause all this confusion! And I’m sure our team members didn’t mean to “pull a fast one” on you! I’m so sorry you never got your $16 – what’s your boloco card number? Email it to us at buzz[at]boloco[dot]com, and we’ll add it on there (better late than never?). Thanks for letting us know about this!
