Meet Our Friend, the Boloco Card!

Many of you probably already know our good friend, the Boloco Card…you know, that pretty little piece of Sean Boyce artwork in your wallet or purse.

If this is not ringing a bell, that’s ok, you’re not too late to join this “exclusive” club. It’s really, insanely easy to join…all you have to do is swing by your local boloco and ask the cashier for a card. Once you have it, you’re in… sweet. Now what?

Well, you can start accumulating points (and freebies) and storing value right away. Just make sure we swipe your card with every purchase.

Not enough? Well, we’ve got some extra perks reserved for our VIPs.

In fact, if you want to become a “VIP” member, that’s pretty easy too. Just head to this page to register your card and “opt-in” (it will take you 2 minutes and 37 seconds).
If your card is already registered, you’re already “on the list” as a boloco VIP!
What kind of benefits do these VIPs enjoy?

Well, in addition to the ability to earn free food and load stored value, VIP status gets you:

-25 points on-the-spot (halfway to your first freebie)
-A free birthday burrito (happy birthday!)
-Guaranteed lost-card replacement (if you lose your card, your hard-earned dollars, freebies, and points won’t disappear)
-Auto reload for stored value (you can link your credit card to your account, so if your balance gets low, it gives you an automatic boost)
-Special perks (like the one you’re about to read about)

Because we couldn’t leave out our registered-card-carrying boloco fanatics, TODAY (7/29/10), all REGISTERED Boloco Card holders will get DOUBLE POINTS for any purchase at boloco. Yup, that means you’re moving twice as quickly towards your next freebie.

Snag a card and show it with pride…you will not be disappointed.

P.S. If you haven’t registered your card yet, make sure you do so by August 31st and you’ll be in line for a little surprise from your friends at boloco. In addition to a goodie for all registered card holders, we’ll have another bonus for the top 50 boloco card users during the month of August so prepare to brave the heat and head on out to boloco.

P. P. S. After two weeks of spirited (and friendly) competition and over 3,700 Cape Codder smoothies sold, the race to win a piece of the Boloco PMC Bike Fund has now come to a thrilling conclusion. We fell a few smoothies short of our outrageously-lofty goal of 4,000 sold and $1,000 raised for the Pan-Mass Challenge, but, with the finish line in sight, we’re kicking in the few extra dollars needed to make it to $1,000. After a week of passionate posts on our Facebook wall, we narrowed down the field to five deserving finalists. After yet another week of voting on boloco.com, we’re ready to provide that little fund-raising boost to these five riders.
Here are the results:
-Jen Taylor – 677 likes – $424
-Lena Joseph – 567 likes – $355
-James Scott – 148 likes – $93
-Jeffrey Charles Marcus -139 likes – $87
-Alessandra Hobler – 66 likes – $41

Congratulations to all 5 members of our “unofficial” boloco PMC team and best of luck to the thousands of riders who will pedal hundreds of miles to raise millions to fight cancer!

    SEE YOU THIS P.M.

  4. adf444 says:

    See you at lunch

  5. Joyce Thurston says:

Your wraps are delicious and really great.

  6. Lisa says:

Your email was confusing — Took 3 tries before it linked to the right webpage (Here. There first 2 tries took me to your main page.). Then, lots of text later, it just tells me about double points today with any purchase. I would have rather just read it in the email directly instead of all the click throughs. Not cool.

  7. Matt Reardon says:

The reason that not as many people are opening your emails anymore is that you’ve just about stopped entirely giving out free stuff and that is what the customers love…and keep them coming back even when it’s not free anymore.
All your emails now are about your fundraisers…great and all for the world, but not especially interesting to your email readers who almost unanimously will go elsewhere for their fundraising interests.
You also push a lot of events but only about 5% of people are interested in those events and about 2% can actually make it.
Your other deals are way too specific and complicated. “X% of a very specific food or beverage but only for that day”. I see that and I immediately leave because my chances of going to boloco that day are only so high with all of the other restaurants to choose from, and then even if i do happen to go on a specific day you can always see a sign or ask the person taking your order if there are any deals that day…even when there are the chances of you wanting that specific item are really low. I’d rather just pay full price for something i want than get half off of something i don’t really want.
Less filler emails, more free item emails, less complicated deals that people don’t care about….coupons are everywhere.
    I have more opinions if you’re interested….
    Thanks,

    Matt

Don’t panic! We love your offerings of food and the points on our card keep piling up. That part is important to us. I read the emails and will continue to do so. Thanks for all your efforts at keeping your customers happy and coming back!

  9. Ashley says:

I have a law school exam today, and I have been planning this afternoon for weeks. An awesome tofu burrito bowl from Boloco, a smoothie (mango- YUM!) and a few solid hours of studying, and I will ace this exam! Plus double points today- what more could a girl ask for?!

  10. Dan says:

We have a group of people at work that are huge fans of Bolocos and go as often as possible. The fun part is seeing who has their card on hand so they can snag points from those that forget it!

  11. Hiren says:

    See you this afternoon

  12. Steph says:

    Thanks for the bonus points!

  13. Glenn Martinsen says:

I have a second house in AZ…. traveled to Mexico…. and lived in CA for 10 years. Boloco BY FAR has the best burritos available anywhere. I wish you would get to the Lakes Region of NH now. Concord is a little too far.

  14. Grace says:

    mmmm Boloco!

  15. Sarah C says:

I’m proud to say that I’ve had my Boloco card for over a year now. The rewards system is so easy AND the birthday freebie really made my day!!!
    Thanks, guys.

P.S. – Congrats to the PMC Boloco teams, both official and not-so-much! =D

  16. Dominique says:

I’ve gotta get one! I work smack in between two Boloco’s and am there all the time!

  17. Ceallaigh says:

What a great excuse to ditch my lunch from home and head over to Boloco!

  18. Tina says:

Can’t find the button to click on to register my card – plus boloco.com only goes to this page, not the homepage. Please advise…

  19. trish says:

Hey guys! I’ll keep opening your emails!

  20. MSW says:

Traveling outside Boston today, but awesome promo. Sorry to miss.

  21. Chef Rich says:

Boloco is the best quick lunch around, I stop in between my personal chef clients for a yummy bite to eat.

  22. Chris says:

    I can’t login! Please help!

  23. Heidi says:

I have had my Bolocco card for years now. I have written to John Pepper with feedback about food/smoothies, etc. and I always get a response. Great customer service and they sincerely want to know what we think. Thanks Bolocco for keeping the prices fair and the food outstanding! Love the nutritional section of the website.

  24. Max says:

This is a great day to buy lunch for my staff. – and I get double points!!!

  25. Winks says:

How do you become a VIP member if you’re alreay a card holder. Or is everyone a VIP?

  26. Stephanie says:

I love your emails. Always open them. I enjoy the sense of humor, and this is silly, but while I’m away from Boston for the summer its like a little bit of home via email.

  27. Roberta Gilbert says:

    I love Boloco’s!

  28. K.C. says:

Best burrito’s!!! keep it up guys! p.s. great email!

  29. capribos says:

I have arguments w/ people all the time, I don’t need to express my admiration for boloco burritos =) And I read the emails 85% of the times and skim them 15% of the times =)

  30. Michelle says:

I love your food. Boloco does need to give away more free items to get customers back.

  31. Maria says:

More free stuff please…i actually find your emails entertaining!

  32. Melinda says:

Darn it. I wish I lived closer to a Boloco, or didn’t share a commute in to work so I’d have a car here so I could drive to one. My poor Boloco card doesn’t get enough of a workout.

  33. Kathleen says:

Love your burritos! But I have to agree with Matt — The Deals are too complicated. I suspect part of the issue is that I don’t live in a Boloco city and thus am unlikely to be in one on the very day a deal appears. Ditto for charitable events you support: I like that you support them, but since they’re nowhere near me, they’re usually not relevant.

Solution, as I see it: Shorter, less complicated emails (max one page and no click-thru) for Deals good for at least one week.

  34. Sarah says:

The big question is — will use of a Free Menu Item still earn double points???

  35. dawn says:

I agreed, we need a little more incentive with the freebies. That always worked before. Even if the freebies are less frequent, I rather have that than $1 off every other email.

  36. Stavros says:

    You say:

In fact, if you want to become a “VIP” member, that’s pretty
easy too. Just head on over to boloco.com, click “Boloco Card”,
and then register your card and “opt-in” (it will take you 2
    minutes and 37 seconds).

When I go to boloco.com, it immediately redirects me to http://boloco.com/events/meet-our-friend-the-boloco-card/, where I do not see any way to register my card. Perhaps that means I’ve already registered it? It would be nice to have some confirmation. Annoying.

  37. Jessica says:

I love my Boloco Card! If you dont have one GET ONE!

  38. Bob says:

Forget Chipolte and Stay Local..BOLOCO that is.. Local is always better!

  39. Geo says:

Love Boloco … I visit regularly various Boston area locations when I’m in Beantown, as well as the Hanover location on my way to/from Boston and of course my home location in Burlington, VT. Especially love the Nutella Smoothie … YUMMMM!

But not sure what your promo offers folks who already have a card and are registered. Double points today?

  40. Amy says:

Your emails are always so fun…who writes your copy?! Good job :)

  41. Ali says:

I use my Boloco Card every week! But how do I become a VIP? I registered over a month ago :-/

  42. John says:

I always read all the Boloco emails and it’s an added perk when there is a freebie in it. see you at lunchtime. cheers.

  43. True says:

I hit y’all up every time I’m in that Capitol City, but with the good weather and lots of sunshine, I’ve been enjoying my ‘Hood in the Hills too much to leave very often.

  44. joss says:

you got me – yeah, i will get that card. For one year Boloco has been my go-to restaurant, and I never got the card…so today I shall do that…

  45. Sherri says:

I love the smoothies they are really good and I highly recommend them:-)

  46. Noemi says:

I always read your witty emails! They’re entertaining and never pushy! Keep ‘em coming! Now when are you going to put a Boloco on Elm Street in Manchester, NH?? :)

  47. Brittany says:

I agree with Matt, while we all want to be Philanthropists, it seems you guys are pushing it a little much!

Anyways…i love the mini wraps and will continue to read the emails for something that sparks my interest!

  48. LY : ) says:

YES, John it’s time to forgive & forget & get back to my favorite breakfast place, the oatmeal is good for nothing but my waistline!

  49. LY : ) says:

I sill want a mini card for my keaychain!
