Swenson Granite Quarry #2

The Swenson Granite Quarry provided a great opportunity to capture a true indigenous industry of Concord and to mix some urban styling in with the heavy equipment.

  1. Hello, can you please post some more information on this topic? I would like to read more.

    Hi Konstantin,

I don’t have too much information on the topic of the actual quarry itself, but I could talk about painting a picture of it all day long (probably not the most productive use of my time though). The quarry itself was breathtaking because of its vastness and depth. As I enjoy very much to paint modern architecture, machinery, industry it was an interesting old school industry trying to keep up with modern times. That’s one of the more subjective aspects of the subject matter that appealed to me. Objectively, the atmosphere of the place was quite striking. The bright sun reflecting off the jagged rocks of pink, purple, orange, you name it were swathed in a hazy mix of morning mist and steam bellowing up from below creating a very cinematic ambience.
